Happiness Is Real When It’s Shared. #Homelessness

“Do not act as if you had ten thousand years to throw away. Death stands at your elbow. Be good for something while you live and it is in your power.”

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

We decided to continue organizing small charity activities during Ramadan month and after it. Last week we went to the heart of Kuala Lumpur to give our help people that we believe really need it.

We distributed 70 “nasi lemaks”, Malaysian traditional dish – rice with egg and 100 bottles of water. However, there were more people that needed our help.

Yee Mun from Malaysia is asking an old man what he does every day.

Everyday we come to Maybank HQ with our cartons and bags to sleep, and each morning we wake up and walk around the city. Many organizations, people usually come on Fridays and Saturdays. You are the first one today. I cannot say what we would like to have because people are different here but it’s better to give us bread and water, so we can keep them for 2-3 days.

In the end, though, maybe we must all give up trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives. In the end, maybe it’s wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices.

It doesn’t matter how big the change is, what matters is doing something and we believe that a huge impact starts with small steps.
